40 Days to Breakthrough
So, with this being the first week of school with my preschoolers, I've been really busy and am a little behind on the devotional guide. However, I woke up really early this morning and felt that God was providing this time for He and I to spend together. I began the guide and was stopped on Day 2, Wednesday, 8/18 when I saw the statement, "Capacity precedes provision." I looked up the scripture reference of II Kings 4:1-7, read through it, and felt God sharing His revelation to me. This is what I received: The widow expressed her need to Elisha. Her capacity available to be filled (the jars) determined the amount of provision (oil) to be given. *Capacity precedes provision. What amount of space are we willing to make available for God's provision to fill? This can relate to our hearts, our emotions, our spiritual potential. As a church body it can relate to the physical facility as well as our willingness to let more people into the fold and to join us as family. It reminds me of the difference when adults express a thought as opposed to a child doing it. An adult might say, "This big," when referring to something versus a child expressing it through flung open arms, face beaming, and chest exposed, "THIS BIG!!" What are we willing to make available for God to use as He sees fit? Is it the reserved adult visual or the carefree, uninhibited passion of the child? How truly willing are we to offer as much capacity as God can fill and to allow Him to not only provide the provision, but to determine the purpose and way it is to be used? "God, this is some powerful, wonderful, and scary stuff. My flesh is fearful (as always), but my spirit is exhilarated with the possibilities You reveal. May Your glory be revealed through this journey and transformation. Amen. (by Barbara Street)
